From the shelter’s very first incarnation onwards, a notebook, pens and pencils have been left inside in a tupperware box. Each book rapidly fills up with hundreds of comments, anecdotes, messages, poems, musings, jokes and drawings contributed by visitors from near and far of all ages, nationalities and sensibilities – some anonymous, but more often signed with addresses across the UK and worldwide. So far over a dozen books have been retrieved for the archive, and a small sample of pages are displayed here from among the huge diversity of content and styles.
